Miscreants have looted documents on the alleged corruption charges against the immediate past governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, his family, and his aides, Gov. Abba Yusuf said on Wednesday.

Ganduje is facing multiple alleged charges before the State High Court.

The governor made this revelation during an on-the-spot assessment visit to the Kano State High Court, which thugs had vandalized during the recent nationwide anti-hunger protests.

“It is unfortunate that enemies of Kano State hired undesirable elements to vandalize one of the historic public buildings.

”This was with the mission of averting corruption charges against Ganduje, his family, and his aides,” he said in a statement by his spokesman, Sanusi Bature.

The governor stated that the miscreants destroyed virtually all of the court’s units, including the State Chief Judge’s office.

He added that the theft of office equipment, the destruction of facilities, and other relevant materials essential to the administration of justice cost about N1 billion.

Yusuf urged youths in the state to desist from being used by detractors to engage in violence.

”Instead, youths should concentrate on skill acquisition for a better future. The state government will not relent in securing the lives and property of the people of the state,” he said.

Yusuf said the judiciary, as the last hope of the common man, must be protected at all costs and directed the building’s immediate rehabilitation and the deployment of sufficient security for effective justice delivery.

He expressed his sympathies to the state Chief Judge, Dije Aboki, and the entire judiciary, urging them to prepare to make up for the losses in the court’s proceedings for the benefit of the general public.

He commended the people of the state for their support and cooperation for the present administration in the state.

Yusuf hoped that the gesture would be sustained for the peace, stability, prosperity, and economic development of the state.
