The Ekiti State Government has approved the appointment of veteran journalist and broadcaster, Stephen Adegboyega Alabi as the new Olosi of Osi Ekiti in the Ido-Osi Local Government Area of the state.
Information Commissioner Taiwo Olatunbosun said the State Executive Council meeting held on Monday, July 29, presided over by Gov. Biodun Oyebanji, gave the approval.
The community’s kingmakers previously confirmed Alabi as the new monarch in accordance with the customary rites.
A statement by the Commissioner reads: “The provision of the Chiefs Law (2012) was strictly adhered to in the selection of Barrister Stephen Adegboyega Alabi from the Arubiojo Ruling House as the Olosi of Osi Ekiti.”
The traditional stool became vacant on August 5, 2021, following the demise of Oba Adewole Agunbiade from the Akombo ruling house.
An accomplished broadcaster, veteran journalist, public relations consultant, and legal practitioner, Prince Alabi holds an LL.B. from the Ekiti State University, a Bachelor of Law from the Nigeria Law School, Abuja, and an LL.M. from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.
He also holds a National Diploma (OND) from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism.
