As part of security measures, Nigerian delegates to the Olympic Games in Paris, France, faced additional hours of scrutiny at the Charles de Gaulle Airport on Saturday.

Mrs. Kehinde Ajayi, the Director of Press at the Federal Ministry of Sports Development, described the incident as unfortunate but necessary for the Games’ safety.

In an exclusive chat with Persecondnews in Paris, she said: “It’s necessary for the safety of all of us and the biggest Olympic Games in history.

“But unfortunate because they kept us for over two hours, maybe because we are Nigerians for extra checks.”

“We are sorry for the delay, but for security sake, we have to do this, and I don’t know why the delegates from Nigeria checks took so long,” an airport official, who spoke to our correspondent under anonymity, said.

Persecondnews reports that day two of the games will commence with Team Nigeria’s Quadiri Aruna and Olajide Omotayo starting their quest for a podium finish with the Table Tennis Men’s Singles in South Paris, France, on Saturday.
