King Charles III said the UK government would continue to support Ukraine and hoped to give them a clear path to becoming a member of NATO.

Additionally, the government will work towards peace and security in the Middle East and a commitment to a two-state solution with a safe and secure Israel alongside a viable Palestinian state.

On Wednesday, July 17, King Charles III presented the legislative agenda of the Labour government, led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

In His Majesty’s speech, the King emphasized the government’s dedication to serving the country with a legislative agenda grounded in the principles of security, fairness, and opportunity for all.

“My Lords and Members of the House of Commons, my government will govern in service to the country. My government’s legislative program will be mission-led and based upon the principles of security, fairness, and opportunity for all,” King Charles III declared.

During a magnificent ceremony in the upper chamber of the House of Lords, King Charles, adorned in a long crimson gown and the diamond-studded Imperial State Crown, made the proposals from a golden throne.

In terms of health care in the UK, the government will work to improve the National Health Service (NHS), ensuring care is based on need, not the ability to pay.

“My government will improve the national health service as a service for all, providing care on the basis of need, regardless of the ability to pay,” His Majesty said.

The legislation will modernize the Mental Health Act, increase the age for purchasing cigarettes, impose limits on vape sales and marketing, and restrict the sale of junk food and high-energy caffeine drinks to children.

The King also introduced the legislation for border security, “My government will seek to strengthen the border and make streets safer.”

The government will focus on modernising the immigration system and combating immigration-related terrorism. The government will also introduce measures to enhance the safety of public venues.

On the economic state of the UK, the new government’s monetary policy will focus on developing the economy in partnership with businesses and working people to overcome recent challenges in the cost of living.

The government will invest in high-quality infrastructure and increase housing availability to support economic growth.

Other initiatives include measures to simplify leases and home buying, enhance trade with other European countries, progress in clean energy and water quality, and improve education and employment.
