The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has denied reports making the rounds that it has authorized the downward review of fuel prices at its retail stations nationwide.

Africa’s biggest oil company clarified the unfounded reports in some sections of the media (not Persecondnews) suggesting a slight reduction in pump prices for Premium Motor Spirit and Automotive Gas Oil.

The Chief Communication Officer of NNPCL, Mr. Olufemi Soneye, in a statement late Wednesday, described the speculation as a ‘bush telegraph.’

The statement reads: “The NNPC Limited wishes to clarify rumours suggesting a price adjustment for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and Automotive Gas Oil (Diesel) at its retail stations nationwide.

“The company asserts that these reports are false and urges Nigerians to disregard them entirely.

“NNPC Ltd. reaffirms its commitment to sustaining the current sufficiency of petroleum product supply across all its retail stations in the country.”
