The ex-governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has slammed a N25 billion suit on Senate President Godswill Akpabio over defamatory statements against him.
Mr. Matthew Burkaa, who serves as Emefiele’s counsel, shared this information in a letter to Akpabio on Wednesday.
Emefiele is also requesting a public apology from Akpabio for his recent remarks regarding the former CBN governor’s tenure in office.
Persecondnews recalls that Akpabio had criticized Emefiele for introducing measures that have contributed to the ongoing economic challenges faced by many Nigerians.
“I remember President Obama saying you cannot know Washington until you get there. So by the time we went in to look at the economic situation of the country, it was terrible.
“Whether to charge him for putting foam on top of a pail, or to charge him for illegal possession of firearms, or to charge him for printing notes without income, I don’t know what we are going to charge him with,” Persecondnews quotes Akpabio as saying.
