Bandits have reportedly attacked a community in Zamfara State, killing four people, including two policemen.

The bandits who invaded Kasuwa-Daji Town in the Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara in the early hours of Tuesday also kidnapped no fewer than 40 residents in a house-to-house raid.

Some residents of Kaura-Namoda who spoke to journalists disclosed that the terrorists who invaded the community wielding sophisticated weapons attacked the home of the former State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Mr. Hamisu Kasuwar-Daji, and abducted one of his wives and grandchildren.

According to the residents, the bandits attacked the police station, which is located near Kasuwar-Daji’s house, killed two policemen on duty, and carted away their arms.

“Two residents were also killed, not only policemen. As of now, about 40 residents have been whisked away by the bandits. The attack lasted for more than two hours unchallenged,” one of the residents told journalists.

Meanwhile, the Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed the attack.

The Command’s spokesperson, Yazid Abubakar, said: “Yes, there was an attack in Kasuwar-Daji in the early hours of today.”

“We are yet to confirm the number of residents abducted, but the Commissioner of Police has deployed additional troops to restore normalcy in the town.”
