In the aftermath of Nigeria’s loss in the just-concluded African Cup of Nations (AFCON) to Ivory Coast, social media has become a battleground for criticism and cyberbullying against certain players, notably Alex Iwobi.

Tunde Ednut, a prominent figure on social media platforms, joined the barrage of criticism, singling out Iwobi and labeling him a failure for the team’s performance.

The backlash was swift and severe, prompting Iwobi to take down all his pictures from Instagram.

Amidst the turmoil, Asisat Oshoala, a prominent Nigerian female footballer, stepped forward to defend Iwobi and condemn the cyberbullying.

Oshoala directed her ire towards Ednut, urging him to behave more maturely and refrain from inciting hatred towards young athletes.

She pointedly remarked that if Ednut had focused on his own failed music career, he might not be resorting to tearing down others in a field he knows little about.

“Stop being childish, Tunde. You should not be instigating people to hate a fellow man. If you had been successful in your failed music career, you won’t be here doing this.”
