The 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly said on Wednesday that they have withdrawn the impeachment notice against Gov. Siminalayi Fubara following the resolutions reached at a stakeholders meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the State House.

The lawmakers loyal to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, at the resumption of sitting on Wednesday, acknowledged that the “cold feet” towards the impeachment process was in compliance with the resolutions reached with the President.

The lawmakers led by Martin Amaewhule, in the notice of withdrawal read during the plenary session, disclosed that the decision was made out of respect for the leader of the country.

Persecond News had reported that the hallowed chambers of the Rivers State House of Assembly was set ablaze by some suspected political thugs in the state.

This followed a move by the House to commence an impeachment process against the Leader of the House, Edison Ehie, and the Governor, Sir Fubara.

As a result of this, some youths had invaded allegedly the assembly complex and torched it.
