Supreme Court verdict: I go nowhere, the struggle continues – Atiku

"As for me and my party, this phase of work is done. However, I am not going to go away, if you think I am going to go away, forget about it"

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Presidential Candidate in the February 25, 2023 poll, Atiku Abubakar, says in spite of his defeat at the Supreme Court, he is going nowhere.

Atiku told a world press conference in Abuja on Monday that those who think he is quitting politics should forget it following his electoral defeat, the sixth so far.

“For as long as I breathe this struggle will continue to deepen our democracy and rule of law.

“As for me and my party, this phase of work is done. However, I am not going to go away, if you think I am going to go away, forget about it.

“For as long as I breathe, I will continue to struggle with other Nigerians to deepen our democracy. I will continue to work for the return of political and economical restructuring that the country needs,” Persecondnews quotes Atiku as saying.

The former Vice-President called on Nigerian youth to stand firm and not to relent in the struggle to ensure that democratic dividends are enjoyed by all Nigerians.

Atiku, who ran as governor of Adamawa in 1999 before he was picked by ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo Obasanjo as his running mate during the 1999 presidential election, was re-elected in 2003.

He also ran unsuccessfully for President of Nigeria six times — in 1993, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019 and 2023, where he came second with 6.98 million votes behind President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who garnered 8.79 million votes.
