Following a subpoena by a U.S. Court on Monday, the Chicago State University (CSU), Illinois, has released the academic records of Mr Bola Tinubu, currently Nigeria’s President, to the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar’s lawyers.

CSU, however, said it does not keep copies of student diplomas issued to students and therefore could not “after
diligent search locate a copy of the original diploma it prepared for Mr Tinubu in 1979.”

Signed by counsel to respondent (CSU), Mr Michael D. Haves, the university in another breath said “after diligent search, it was able to locate and produced a true and correct copy of students names on the diplomas but with names redacted (covered) for privacy reasons.”

Judge Gilbert and Judge Maldonado of U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois, had given the orders late on Monday as confirmed by the copies of the judgment obtained by Persecondnews.

It also confirmed that student Tinubu graduated from the school in 1979 with a bachelors degree in Business Administration.

Persecondnews recalls that Tinubu had submitted certificates he claimed to have obtained from CSU to the Independent National Electoral Commission ahead of the February 25, 2023 presidential poll.

Atiku had filed a case at the court challenging Tinubu’s eligibility in the election.
