The 64-year-old celebrated Olympic boxer, Jeremiah Okorodudu, is dead.
The ace boxer died at a Lagos Hospital while awaiting amputation surgery, Persecondnews gathered.
A family member, who did not want to be named, said the family is now in a dilemma as the hospital authorities have refused to release the corpse until an outstanding debt which is less than N1 million is cleared.
Okorodudu first retired as a professional boxer in 1985, but staged a comeback and retired finally in 1988.
He came into national limelight as a Gold Medalist at the National Sports Festival held in Ibada, Oyo Stat, tagged, “Oluyole ’79”.
He was a Bronze Medalist at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, Australia.
He was defeated at the quarterfinals of the 1984 Olympic Games.
His post-retirement activities include coaching some young boxers, some of who are engaged in championships outside Nigeria.
