Buhari’s eight-year rule extremely unsuccessful, gets five per cent score — Olabode George

“Let us now move these promises into his departure, that is what will be written for him on the pages of history. Whatever a leader does during his term is on the pages of history”

Unimpressed with President Muhammadu Buhari’s eight-year governance, a retired senior military officer and former Deputy National Chairman of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, says Buhari has recorded a dismal failure and very poor performance as he exits.

George said categorically that he performed woefully in meeting the expectations of Nigerians, reports Persecondnews.

Scoring Buhari administration very low, the politician gave him five per cent over 100.

“Whatever a leader does during his term is on the pages of history.

“When he was coming in, Oga was telling us, ‘I will fight corruption, secure lives and property of the people. I will do this, I will do that,’ all kinds of promises.

“Let us now move these promises into his departure, that is what will be written for him on the pages of history. Whatever a leader does during his term is on the pages of history,” George said while giving an assessment of the Buhari administration at an interactive session with journalists in Lagos.

According to the one-time military governor of Ondo State, Buhari also knew he failed woefully in terms of service delivery to Nigerians, hence his relocating to Niger Republic to avoid embarrassment and the wrath of Nigerians.

George said he could only give the outgoing Buhari administration just five percent to underscore the colossal failures of the regime.

He also told newsmen: “Traditionally in our culture, military culture, you don’t give any report on your senior officer but this is no longer a military era. It concerns every Nigerian as it concerns every Savannah region in the North.

“Has General Buhari’s administration impacted positively in the minds of the people? My personal assessment is that he failed, not completely in every sector.

“If you write an examination, they will say you must have a minimum of 33 per cent before they can promote you to the next class, but he did not attain that 33 per cent. If I assess him, he got about five per cent.”

Pointing out that the primary duty of any government is the security of lives and property, George said it is common knowledge that the government failed in this regard.

“Nobody feels secure in Nigeria again, irrespective of their status.

“I have worked with Buhari before. I think he must have been weighed down by age,” he also said.

He recalled that the greatest mistake Buhari made was to have jettisoned the 2014 Constitutional Conference report of the former President Goodluck Jonathan administration.

“He dumped the report in the archive. If the President had worked on the report, it would have helped him in solving most of the problems facing Nigeria,

“What I am saying now is that we are starting another journey on May 29, 2023; we must be full of prayers,” George said.
