FEC not yet dissolved, says Lai Mohammed

The Federal Government has denied a report awash in the news media that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has been dissolved.

According to the Information Minister, Lai Mohammed, the report of the dissolution of FEC by President Muhammadu Buhari is nothing but fake news.

He spoke with State House correspondents at the end of the valedictory FEC meeting on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Mohammed said Buhari had directed all ministers to return to their desks and work on their “transition assignments.”

“I just want to make this clarification. While we were at the Council Chambers there was a ‘fake breaking news’ that the Federal Executive Council has been dissolved; that is not correct.

“As a matter of fact, we have been directed by the President that we should all go back and return to our offices.

“So it is not true that the Federal Executive Council has been dissolved; it is still very much alive.

“We have all been directed to go back to our offices and ensure that we continue to work until May 29. So please ignore the fake news,” the minister said.

Earlier, Buhari had sworn in seven federal commissioners of the Revenue, Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

They are Senator Ayogu Eze (Enugu), Peter Opara (Imo), Hawa Aliyu (Jigawa), Rekiya Haruna (Kebbi), Ismaila Agaka (Kwara), Kolawole Abimbola (Oyo) and Ayuba Ngako (FCT).
