The Appeal Court sitting in Abuja on Friday set aside the judgment of the Osun State Electoral Tribunal which annulled the election of PDP’s Gov. Ademola Adeleke held on July 16, 2022.

Delivering the verdict on behalf of other judges, Justice Mohammed Lawal held that Sen. Adeleke won the election and punctured the judgment of the tribunal which annulled his election.

He ordered APC and its candidate, Gboyega Oyetola to pay N500,000 as damages to Adeleke.

Persecondnews earlier reported that the Election Tribunal in Osun State while delivering a majority judgment in the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress and Adegboyega Oyetola, the immediate past governor, annulled the July 16 election.

Justice Tetsea Kume observed that from the votes collated, Oyetola won the election with 314,921 votes and gave Adeleke 290,266 votes after subtracting some votes from Adeleke’s over alleged over-voting in some polling units.

He further directed INEC to withdraw Adeleke’s Certificate of Return and issue a fresh one to Oyetola who he claimed won the majority of the votes.
