Upset as Kano Gov. Ganduje’s son, Abba, loses House of Representatives seat

1.2k

Mr Abba Ganduje, son of Gov. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State was upset in Saturday’s House of Representatives poll in the state.

Ganduje had lost his bid to unseat the incumbent, Mr Abdulkadir Tijjani Jobe, House of Representatives member representing Tofa, Dawakin-Tofa and Rimingado Federal Constituency.

Persecondnews reports that Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso’s party — the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) — under which Jobe contested, polled 52,457 votes against Abba of the All Progressiives Congress who got 44,809 votes.

The Returning Officer, Prof. Saminu Yahaya announced the results at INEC office on Sunday at Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area.

Jobe is returning to the Green Chambers for the fifth time.

Jobe, formerly of the APC, had defected to NNPP following a clash with Gov. Ganduje for “awarding” the party’s ticket to his son, Abba.

APC failed to address the issue and on Saturday the people spoke through the ballot, rejecting the imposition.
