APC presidential candidate, Tinubu’s “Emi lo kan”, a sin of heresy, playing God, says Dogara APC presidential candidate, Tinubu’s “Emi lo kan”, a sin of heresy, playing God, says Dogara

The infamous political sloganeering of the All Progressives Congress (APC) President Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, “emi lo kan”, has again come under a heavy spank from political circles in the Northern part of the country.

The immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, called “emi lo kan” as heresy the Tinubu’s slogan.

Persecondnews recalls that former President Olusegun Obasanjo had humorously while receiving Tinubu at his Abeokuta presidential library “lauded” him for adding three lexicons into the country’s political dictionary, namely; “Emi lo kan”, “Olu le” and “Eleyi”, all in Yoruba.

Tinubu had released the lexicons in Abeokuta, Ogun capital some time in May 2022 while addressing state delegates to the June APC Presidential Primary held in Abuja where he emerged as the party’s candidate.

“Emi lo kan” means it is my turn to be president, “Olu le” was used by Tinubu derogatorily in referring to President Muhammadu Buhari’s three-time defeat at the presidential poll, falling three good times, and “Eleyi” in a derogatory reference to Ogun Gov. Dapo Abiodun, that without him (Tinubu) he would not have emerged governor.

But Dogara again hit Tinubu for arrogating the power to become president to himself and for popularising the slogan at all his campaign outings.

In a tweet via his verified Twitter handle @YakubDogara, the former Speaker said:” it is a sin of heresy for anyone to say it is his/her turn to be president as power belongs to God and He gives it to whoever He wishes.”

He pointed out that the most generous and wealthy people were those “who gave silently without hope of praise or reward.”

“Doing things for others and demanding that they pay you back amounts to doing the right things for the wrong reasons- the very definition of heresy.

“Is it said that “the most truly generous persons are those who give silently without hope of praise or reward.” #emilokanisheresy

“As we go to the polls remember that we cannot put a set of people, half addicted to rage and the other half addicted to delirium, into leadership and still hope that we can rise above the contradictions which define their very nature; for they will only reproduce themselves.

“Note also that democracy anywhere does not give permission to its citizens to be their worst selves. A people who knowingly suborn the gormless into leadership positions have wittingly or unwittingly resolved never to rise. Come on, Nigeria, we are better than this!”

On the candidacy of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, Dogara said although he was not perfect but pointed out that “nations are built by imperfect men and women.”

“Of course, I am acutely aware that Atiku Abubakar is not perfect but throughout history, the task of building nations have always fallen on the shoulders of imperfect men & women.

“My only point is that the best of us must not be led by the worst of us. Atiku Abubakar remains the best,” Dogara, who defected back to his party, the PDP from APC in 2022, said.
