In further demonstration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s avowed commitment to providing a level playing field for all parties in the build up to the 2023 polls, the National Security Adviser, retired Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno has sent a strong warning to state governors to fall in line.

Specifically, Monguno cautioned the governors against using political thugs to stop opponents from pasting posters and erecting campaign billboards in their states.

Monguno handed down the warning while featuring at the Ministerial Media Briefing organized by the Presidential Communications Team at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday.

He said security agents will soon go after them for their political intolerance and lawlessness.

“When the law enforcement agencies move, there will be no hiding place for the perpetrators.

“Governors should call their ‘Capo regime’ to order because when we move, there will be no hiding place for them,” Persecondnews quotes Monguno as saying.

Responding to allegations that some  governors had announced some measures and regulations to ban the presence of opposition campaign materials in their states, Monguno described such executive recklessness and conduct as an inferiority complex.

The National Security Adviser recalled that President Buhari had promised to leave a legacy of free, fair, and credible polls in 2023 while advising governors to rein in their thugs.
