The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has recovered abandoned power equipment belonging to the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), preventing billions in potential losses and boosting electricity infrastructure projects across the country.

NDPHC Managing Director Jennifer Adighije disclosed this during a visit to NPA Managing Director Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho in Lagos over the weekend.

Adighije said: “The recovery and clearance of this equipment is critical to strengthening Nigeria’s power infrastructure and ensuring effective delivery of projects.

“Prolonged delays in recovering the consignments could have negatively affected project timelines, increased costs, and undermined electricity supply.

“The NPA’s intervention has not only facilitated the recovery of valuable equipment but has also saved the NDPHC billions in potential losses.”

She urged deeper inter-agency cooperation across the maritime and energy sectors to eradicate bureaucratic obstacles affecting infrastructure timelines.

Responding, Dantsoho reaffirmed that an efficient and stable electricity supply is foundational to Nigeria’s economic development, industrial capacity, and public welfare.

The NPA boss assured: “The Authority will continue to support initiatives that facilitate the smooth movement and clearance of critical equipment.”
