The Director-General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Mr Segun Ajayi Kadir, says the initiative of the Mohammed Bello-Koko-led management of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has provided a life-belt to the export of locally produced items.
Kadir, who spoke when he led a delegation comprising of the Vice President of MAN, Chief John Aluya, Chairman of Apapa Branch of MAN, Engr. Frank Ike Onyebu, and others on partnership renewal visit to the NPA headquarters in Marina, Lagos, commended the managing director for the initiatives.
Speaking during the meeting, Bello-Koko said the management was committed to seamless trade facilitation in line with the Federal Government’s ease of doing business.
“Our commitment to upping the ante of trade facilitation remains unwavering, this is why we have been and will continue to be advocates of creating enabling atmosphere for local manufacturers.
” I, therefore, want to assure the leadership of MAN that our doors are open always to address all concerns of your individual and corporate members.”
Koko urged MAN to take advantage of the Export Processing Terminals that have been licenced by the NPA under the technical guidance of the Nigerian Export Processing Council (NEPC).
Persecondnews reports that as part of the fall-out of the meeting is that the NPA and MAN decided to establish a joint think- tank with the primary goal of improving local manufacturing’s situation in a sustainable way to enable Nigeria fully benefit from the advantages of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).
It will also enable Nigeria to gain a larger market share in international trade.
