Tragedy as delegate slumps, dies at APC presidential primary in Abuja

A delegate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the ongoing presidential primary at the Eagles Square, Abuja, has slumped and could not be revived.

The delegate from Jigawa State, identified as Isah Baba-Buji is the APC Vice-Chairman for Jigawa Southwest.

He reportedly slumped and died while taking his breakfast on Tuesday in Abuja.

Confirming the incident, the APC spokesman in Jigawa, Mr Bashir Kundu, told reporters that delegate was pronounced dead while taking his breakfast.

He said arrangements had been concluded to take Baba-Buji’s body to Jigawa for burial according to lslamic rites.

Persecondnews reports that voting for the primary election to elect APC presidential flagbearer commenced at 6pm after accreditation of eligible delegates had been concluded.

Three party delegates from each of the 774 local governments across Nigeria are eligible to vote in the primary.

Latest report said APC Governors have pruned the presidential list to three, namely; Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, and ex-Transport Minster, Rotimi Amaechi as frontline contenders few hours to the primary as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
