Adesina, a former Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture, was reacting to calls by some Nigerians to vie for the 2023 Presidential ticket of  the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Persecondnews had reported that a group of farmers had reportedly purchased APC’s N100 million Nomination and Expression of Interest forms for Adesina.

In a statement on Tuesday widely circulated, Adesina said his current responsibilities would not allow him to respond to calls for the presidency and  thanked Nigerians for their goodwill.

“While I am deeply honoured, humbled and grateful for all the incredible goodwill, kindness, and confidence, my current responsibilities at this time do not allow me to accept to be considered.”

According to him, he remains of extremely humbled by several calls from home and abroad for him to view for the presidency of Nigeria.

“I’m touched by such calls and the sacrifices Nigerians had made for him to vie for the illustrious office.”
