At last, the Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, has resigned from President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet in pursuit of his presidential ambition.
A tweet by APC United Kingdom announced the resignation of Amaechi: “Nigeria’s Minister of #Transportation, HM Chibuike R. Amaechi [@ChibuikeAmaechi] has resigned from the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to focus on his Presidential Campaign.
“Thank you for your service to Nigeria.”
Amaechi is the fourth minister to resign after the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, who turned in his letter last week, the Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, and Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio.
Persecondnews had reported that President’s Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting directed those running for elective offices to submit their letters of resignation on or before Monday, May 16, 2022.
