Southwest presidential aspirants, Tinubu, Osinbajo, governors, others meet APC leaders in Lagos

In a bid to persuade some presidential aspirants to step down, leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Southwest are currently meeting with aspirants from the zone in Lagos.

The meeting which is being hosted by Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu at State House, Marina, is presided over by former Ogun Gov. Olusegun Osoba and former Interim National Chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande

Sources close to the meeting being behind closed doors said it is to explore if the zone can present a “united front” for the May 30 APC special presidential convention in Abuja.

In attendance are Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Governors  Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Gboyega Oyetola (Osun), Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo) and Dapo Abiodun (Ogun).

Others are House of Representatives Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, Works Minister, Babatunde Fashola and the National Secretary of the party, Sen. Iyiola Omisore.

Persecondnews recalls that from the Southwest alone seven presidential aspirants have picked up the N100 million Nomination and Expression of Interest forms.

They are Tinubu, Osinbajo, Fayemi, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, Pastor Tunde Bakare,  former Speaker, House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole and the current Deputy Senate Leader, Prof. Ajayi Boroffice.
