Uncomfortable with some sections of the Electoral Act 2022 signed by him last week, President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the Senate to amend the Act.
In a letter addressed to the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, and read on the floor of the Upper Chamber on Tuesday, the president is requesting the lawmakers to consider the outright deletion of Section 84 (12).
Persecondnews.com reports that Section 84 (12) demands the resignation of political appointees before party primaries.
The clause, Buhari said, amounts to disenfranchising political appointees.
