A boardinghouse student and mate of the late Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, who was last week tortured to death at Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos, has revealed the ordeal of the victim.

Sharing the information via a chat addressed to someone named Tamara, the grieving hostel colleague said he was in the room when it all happened.

Persecondnews.com earlier reported that 12-year-old Oromoni Jnr died on November 30, 2021, from injuries he sustained after he was allegedly tortured by some senior students of the school for refusing to join a cult.

The hashtag #JusticeForSylvester has been trending since the student’s death, as his death has continued to garner widespread criticism across the social media platforms.

According to the witness, he is finding it difficult to sleep hence he decided to speak the truth.

“Everything the late Sylvester Oromoni Jnr said before he died was the truth.”

The witness also disclosed that everyone who witnessed the horrific torture were threatened by the senior boys numbering six not to snitch, adding that if they did they would do worse things to them.

The message reads: “Hello Tamara.
”Sly got beat up on Saturday 27th of November by the boys that were named and the ring leader was Favor, Aslem and Micheal is more of a follower.

“I was in the room the day they came in. Sly was on his bed and we were just talking and playing in our hostel room as usual after we had cleaned. At evening time the senior boys came in and senior Favor switched off the light as they were holding their belts.

“They were not 5 but 6 senior boys but I don’t know who exactly was part of the beating but I know senior Edwin was there for sure.

“They beat him up and he fell from his bunk and after they were done they called us back to the room and Aslem said the school rules pissed him off and if we snitch the way Sly did, they would do even worse to us. Sly was still on the ground and favor kicked his head again before they left.

“In the morning on Sunday sly was on his bed and he complained that he couldn’t walk so the senior called us to their room and said if we snitched they would know and that if they ask us what is wrong with him we should say he played football.

“The dormitory master knew there was a beating that occurred so I don’t understand why they are lying on the internet that he wasn’t aware.

“Even the following morning sly went to the sick bay and it was obvious he was beaten and because no football can break bones and moreover that week we didn’t have sports activities or play football.”

“I tried to explain to the school Principal what happened but they keep shutting us up and saying he was playing football even before sly uncle came to pick him up, my friend and I told our dorm master, Mr Amed, what really happened but they didn’t want to listen to us.

“I can’t sleep so I decided to speak the truth everything sly said before he died was the truth.

“We didn’t know he was dead till we were sent home and we were picked by our parents. All they told us was that he is getting withdrawn from the school.

“This is not the first case that has happened in Dowen; they always hide and cover it up. The junior students are not always protected by the teachers or the Principal and if we report anonymously they would make us suffer for reporting such,” the grief-stricken student narrated.
