The long arm of the law has caught up with a man, Prince Reuben, for allegedly conspiring with his three friends to kidnap, gang-rape and kill a petty trader who wanted to buy a plot of land from him in Rivers State.

The suspect, who hails from Etche community in Rivers, and his accomplices who are currently at large, poured acid on the victim, identified as Joy Saturday, after killing her.

Parading the suspect before newsmen in Abuja, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Abuja, CP Frank Mba, said: “Prince Reuben who hails from Eche in Rivers State had earlier sold a plot of land to one Joy Saturday, a hardworking mother of four and a petty trader who laboured so hard to put together the first N250, 000 to buy the plot of land.

“Thereafter, he (Reuben) lured this lady, pretending that there is another vacant land for sale.

“Joy Saturday accompanied Reuben to the bush side ostensibly on an inspection. Unknown to this innocent hardworking woman, Reuben had conspired with three other friends of his namely Nwaba, Promise and Chinedu.

“During the inspection tour, Joy was kidnapped by these men. They took ALSO: her into the forest, gang-raped her, stole the only cash sum she had with her (N20, 000) and then shot her to death. After killing her, they poured acid on her body and then threw it into the forest.

“Nwaba, Chinedu and Promise are currently at large.”

”I am here for the killing of Miss Joy Saturday. On that day, I went to my working place. She called me on phone that she is coming to see the land. I said Okay and that I went to work and that my closing time is by 4. She said okay and that when I close I should call her.

“Before then, my three friends told me that they are going to kidnap her and make money from her. I said okay no problem.

“On that day, they stayed in the bush and then I took her to the land. My three friends came out and we kidnapped her and took her to the forest. We raped her. We killed her. We poured acid on her,” he narrated.
