Barely three days after a political figure, Ahmed Gulak, was assassinated in Imo State, another high-profile murder has occurred in Minna, Niger State of Prof. Godswill Obioma.

Obioma was until his death, the Registrar of the National Examinations Council (NECO).

Obioma, who hailed from Abia State, was allegedly strangled to death by some unknown gunmen.

Obioma’s wife, Elizabeth, confirmed in a statement that the assassins came in and killed him and left without taking away anything.

“My husband had just returned to Minna from a trip to Abuja when the armed men, lurking in his compound, descended on him and strangled him,” grieving and profusely weeping wife said.

Obioma has been battling attempts to remove him from office as the head of NECO, an examination body established by the federal government.
