To fast-track maritime justice and protect rising port investments, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) is making its operational and technical data available to the judiciary.
Speaking at the 18th International Maritime Seminar for Judges, NPA Managing Director) CEO Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho highlighted the initiative alongside top agency chiefs and private sector leaders.
The high-profile event, themed “Advancing Maritime Justice, Strengthening Global Trade,” took place at the Ladi Kwali Hall of the Abuja Continental Hotel.
“We are a committed partner with the judiciary,” Dantsoho stated.
“We will continue to automate our processes, integrate our systems, and provide operational and technical data to aid swift maritime justice.”
The NPA boss highlighted major infrastructure breakthroughs, revealing that the authority has secured $1 billion in financing for the rehabilitation, renovation, and expansion of key ports in Onne, Calabar, and Warri.
He noted that international capital is now flowing into Nigeria’s port assets at an unprecedented rate.
“For this capital to be sustained, it must be protected by a robust and efficient judicial framework,” Dantsoho added.
His remarks underscored the NPA’s strategic alignment with the judiciary to create an enabling environment for trade and investment.
By offering real-time data and modernized systems, the authority aims to reduce delays in maritime-related cases and boost investor confidence.
Participants at the seminar praised the collaboration between regulatory agencies and the judiciary, viewing it as essential for strengthening Nigeria’s position in global maritime commerce.
Dantsoho’s assurance signals a new era of inter-agency synergy aimed at modernizing port operations while reinforcing legal frameworks that protect massive incoming investments.
