For allegedly breaking into and desecrating God’s temple and stealing a Holy Bible, money and phone during a vigil, 25-year-old Tope Dunsin has been apprehended and is now facing trial at an lle-Ife Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osun State.
He is charged with illegal entering and stealing.
Dunsin allegedly broke into the Redeemed Christian Church of God, lle-Ife and stole a copy of the Holy Bible and N53, 000, belonging to a church member, Ajayi Adebimpe.
It was also alleged that he stole a handbag, Nokia 215 handset, OAUTHC I.D. card and bunch of house key.
Although he denied the charge, Police Prosecutor Emmanuel Abdullahi, insisted that the defendant committed the offences on November 16, 2019 about 3.50 am at Moremi, Iloro in Ile-Ife.
Urging the court to grant the accused bail, his lawyer, Mr Bonaventure Olatoye, promised that he would not jump bail.
Ruling on the bail application, Magistrate Muhibah Olatunji granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in the same amount.
March has been fixed for hearing of the case.
