INEC Fixes September, October Dates for Edo, Ondo Gov. Polls

September 19 and October 10, 2020, has been announced as Governorship Election for Edo and Ondo States just as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has deregistered 74 political parties.

With the axing of the inactive parties, Nigeria now has only 18.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, disclosed this in Abuja on Thursday.
The parties which escaped INEC’s delisting include the ruling All Progressives Congress, Accord Party, Action Alliance, African Action Congress, African Democratic Congress,  All Progressives Grand Alliance, and Allied Peoples Movement.
Others are Labour Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party, National Rescue Movement, Peoples Democratic Party, Peoples Redemption Party, Social Democratic Party, Young Progressives Party, and Zenith Labour Party.The INEC boss said in all 75 parties did not meet the requirements but that one was spared because the party went to court.
