Some property belonging to the convicted former Abia State governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, were on Saturday marked for forfeiture to the Federal Government By the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The move was to ensure that the properties were not disposed of after Justice Muhammed Idris of the Federal High Court, Lagos, had directed that Slok Nigeria Limited owned by the ex-governor be wound up and all its assets forfeited to the federal government.
The Commission’s spokesman, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, said some unnamed firms were also marked.
On December 5, the judge had given judgment in the fraud and money laundering charges preferred against Kalu, his former commissioners, Jonas Udeogo and Slok Nigeria Ltd.
He directed the company to be wound up and its assets forfeited to the government.
PerSecondnews recalls that Kalu, a serving APC Senator was last week sentenced Kalu to 12 years in jail while Udeogo got 10 years.
