Minimum wage: FG gets 2-week ultimatum as unions threaten strike

765

The Federal Government has been given two weeks to implement the new minimum wage of N30, 000 or risk a nationwide strike.

The organised labour comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress gave the ultimatum in a statement by presidents of the two unions.

The unions  accused the government’s negotiating team of complacency and insincerity.

They said the delay in implementing the consequential salary adjustment was caused by the government.

“The negotiation meeting must reconvene before October 16, after that we not guarantee industrial harmony after the deadline.”
