In demonstration of the age-long slogan that youths are the future leaders, Kwara Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has offered a 26-year-old spinster, Miss Joana Nnazua Kolo, currently a National Youth Service Corps member, job as commissioner in the state cabinet.

Kolo, a 2018 graduate of Library Science from the Kwara State University (KWASU) and grassroots mobiliser, will be the youngest to be so appointed in that capacity in Nigeria in recent times.

Persecondnews recalls that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde of PDP had blazed the trail by appointing 27-year-old Oluwaseun Fakorede as Sports and Youth Affairs Commissioner.

Kolo’s name was among the four female commissioner-nominees whose names were forwarded to the State House of Assembly on Tuesday for confirmation.

Kolo is currently serving in Jigawa as a classroom teacher at Model Boarding Junior Secondary School Guri.
Other nominees are a former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the FBN Mortgages Limited, a subsidiary of the First Bank, Mrs Folashade Omoniyi, as the new Chairperson of the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service. She would succeed Prof Murtala Awodun whose tenure expires soon.

Omoniyi, who holds a bachelor of engineering from the University of Ilorin and Masters of Business Administration from Obafemi Awolowo University, has many years of leadership experience in the banking sector, marketing, information communication technology, and business management; Mrs Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu, Arinola Fatimoh Lawal and Aisha Ahman Pategi.

The Speaker, Mr Salihu Yakubu Danladi, has acknowledged the receipt of the commissioners’ list sent to the House of Assembly by the governor.
