The political atmosphere in Oyo State has taken another turn following the appearance of former Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde, Segun Ogunwuyi, at the manifesto presentation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate on Tuesday in Ibadan.

Ogunwuyi’s appearance at the event came just days after his resignation from Makinde’s administration, raising questions about his next political move and possible realignment ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

His presence at the APC gathering has attracted attention, given his previous position as one of the influential figures within the governor’s political circle and his involvement in the affairs of the current administration.

While the former Chief of Staff has not publicly offered an explanation for attending the event, the development has fuelled speculation about the direction of his political allegiance following his departure from government.

The development is particularly noteworthy against the backdrop of the political rivalry between the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the APC in Oyo State, where the race for the governorship is already generating considerable interest.

Meanwhile, members of Makinde’s political camp have kept mum over Ogunwuyi’s appearance at the opposition party’s event, with no official reaction emerging from the governor’s camp as of the time of filing this report.

His resignation had already generated conversations within political circles, particularly because of the strategic nature of the office he occupied and his proximity to the governor.

The APC manifesto presentation provided its governorship candidate with an opportunity to outline his vision, policy priorities and proposed programmes for Oyo State, as the party intensifies its preparations for the next electoral contest.

Although Ogunwuyi’s attendance may be interpreted as a sign of changing political relationships, it remains unclear whether he has formally joined the APC or intends to publicly declare support for its governorship candidate.
