The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Young Stakeholders’ Forum has called on party youths to channel leadership disputes through recognised party authorities rather than pursue competing claims to positions within the party’s youth wing ahead of the 2027 general elections.

PerSecondNews correspondent reports that Mr Shehu Attah, the forum’s National Publicity Secretary, made the appeal at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, while emphasising the need to respect the office of the party’s National Youth Leader, Dayo Isreal, and other recognised leaders.

He cautioned party stakeholders against actions, statements or manoeuvres that could cast doubt on the legitimacy of the national youth leader’s authority or encourage parallel claims to leadership outside established party processes.

Attah advised that matters requiring clarification or resolution should be referred to the appropriate party authorities.

“The surest way to protect institutional credibility, promote fairness and prevent avoidable disputes from escalating, is to report to constituted authorities,” he said.

“Our unequivocal support for Dayo Isreal is also a statement of principle: that party structures must be respected, due process must be upheld, and the integrity of the APC’s youth leadership must be preserved,” Attah noted.

Defending Isreal’s performance, the forum’s spokesperson said its members had monitored his activities over the years and considered his leadership record commendable.

“We have closely observed the activities of Isreal over the years and we make bold to say he has performed creditably,” he said.

“We believe that the strength of our party lies not only in its electoral victories, but also in its respect for established institutions, internal democracy, justice, fairness and the rule of law,” he added.

Attah further cited the establishment of the APC Youth House and Nest Resource Centre among the youth leader’s achievements, saying the facilities had pioneered digital skills development, capacity building, vocational training and empowerment programmes.

He highlighted the Renewed Hope Conversations initiative launched in tertiary institutions, which brought students, policymakers and senior government officials together to discuss government policies and obtain feedback from young Nigerians.

“We have also seen the strategic youth engagement initiative, tagged: ‘Renewed Hope Conversations’ launched in tertiary institutions which bridged the gap between the Federal Government and young Nigerians,” Attah said.

According to him, the initiative provided opportunities for students to engage policymakers and senior government officials on policies affecting the country.

He noted that more than 100 youths and youth leaders across the country had benefited from overseas capacity-building and training programmes over the past two years under Isreal’s leadership.

“The programmes were part of efforts to address persistent demands for an improved reward system within the party’s youth wing,” he stated.

Attah urged stakeholders to respect established party structures and avoid actions capable of deepening divisions as the APC prepares for the 2027 general elections.
