Following the fatal shooting of his associate Olamilekan “Emir” Ajagungbade on Sunday in Ife, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has ordered police to immediately arrest all suspects involved.
The killing allegedly stems from a turf war over motor park leadership involving the chairman of Ife Mini-Bus, known as “Síbí.”
A statement by spokesperson Olawale Rasheed, said Governor Adeleke had instructed Police Commissioner Ibrahim Zungura to bring the culprits to justice.
Adeleke also ordered all rival groups to vacate the affected motor parks while security agencies step in to restore peace.
“Law and order must be maintained. There will be no sacred cows as all culprits will be brought to book,” the governor said.
The governor also directed security agencies to ensure law and order across Osun State and called on residents to remain calm following the incident.
“We call on members of the public to remain calm. We will ensure restoration of peace in all the affected parks and areas,” Adeleke said.
As part of the measures announced after the reported killing, the governor said the state would reintroduce the Park Management System with immediate effect.
Adeleke said he would soon issue an Executive Order to provide the legal framework for the new arrangement and regulate the management of motor parks and garages across the state.
“We are reintroducing the Park Management System. I will soon issue an executive order to give effect to the new management system to manage parks and garages across the state,” he said.
The governor urged the Police Commissioner to act swiftly on the matter and directed security agencies to ensure that peace was sustained in affected areas.
