With political campaigns building up ahead of the August 15 Osun State governorship election, Nigerian music star Davido has publicly called out Musiliu Akinsanya over his pushback against the state’s transport union ban.
The feud stems from Governor Ademola Adeleke’s decision to suspend all National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) operations following violent factional clashes at local motor parks.
To restore calm, Governor Adeleke froze transport levy collections and ordered security agencies to arrest anyone continuing to operate under the union’s banner.
Reacting to the development during an inauguration event, MC Oluomo, through his deputy, Aliyu Issa Ore, faulted the decision of the state government, insisting that no governor has the constitutional authority to suspend the activities of the union.
He said: “Today, we heard that the state governor in Osun suspended the activities of our union, which they don’t have that power. Not a single state governor has power to suspend the activities of the union because we are not under any state.”
MC Oluomo’s comments prompted a swift response from award-winning musician Davido, who is Governor Adeleke’s nephew and a prominent advocate for the state administration.
Writing on X, the artist dismissed the statement and openly questioned the union leader’s communication skills.
“MC Oluomo wey no fit compose sentence dey talk. Kudosuuuu,” Davido wrote.
The exchange is the latest public clash involving political figures and celebrities as stakeholders continue to debate the legality of the Osun Government’s action and the role of the transport union in the state.
