Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has opened up about the emotional challenges surrounding her weight loss journey, revealing that she has continued to face criticism despite transforming her health and lifestyle.

The actress shared her experience in a heartfelt message obtained by Persecondnews, explaining that her journey from weighing 170kg to 83kg was not an overnight achievement but a result of years of discipline, sacrifice, consistency, and determination.

Badmus revealed that she spent years working towards her transformation, describing it as one of the toughest journeys of her life, filled with struggles, setbacks, tears, and the daily decision to prioritise her health.

“Five years ago, I weighed 170KG. Today, in 2026, I weigh 83KG. That didn’t happen overnight. It took years of discipline, sacrifice, pain, consistency, tears, setbacks, and choosing my health every single day,” she said.

According to the actress, one of the most painful parts of her journey has been the continued criticism from people who once mocked her for being plus-size and are now attacking her after losing weight.

“The same people who body-shamed me when I was plus-size are the same people body-shaming me now that I’ve lost the weight. What exactly do you want from me?” Badmus questioned.

She explained that losing a significant amount of weight naturally comes with physical changes, including changes to the skin, and urged people to understand that such adjustments are part of the transformation process.

“When someone loses almost 90KG, it’s completely normal for the skin to change. Of course, my skin will adjust. I’m doing my best, taking care of myself, using collagen, staying healthy, and embracing every stage of this transformation,” she stated.

Badmus noted that although she does not always respond to negative comments, the words still affect her because she is human and experiences emotions like everyone else.

“Just because I don’t respond to the insults doesn’t mean they don’t hurt. It doesn’t mean I’m weak. It doesn’t mean I don’t have feelings. I’m human. Blood runs through my veins just like yours,” she added.

The actress described her transformation as a major personal achievement, stressing that losing nearly 90kg is a milestone that should be celebrated rather than criticised.

“At my age, I think I’ve done something remarkable. Going from 170KG to 83KG isn’t a small achievement,” she said.

She encouraged people to focus on the strength, determination, and resilience behind someone’s journey instead of constantly pointing out what they believe is wrong with their appearance.

Badmus also addressed women who engage in body shaming, expressing disappointment that some of the criticism comes from women despite the popular message of supporting one another.

“So much of this bullying comes from women. We often say, ‘Women should support women.’ But where is that support when another woman is fighting to become healthier and happier? Kindness costs nothing,” she said.

She urged people to stop tearing others down because of their bodies, emphasizing that nobody deserves to be bullied for being plus-size or for choosing to lose weight.

“Nobody deserves to be bullied for being plus-size, and nobody deserves to be bullied for losing weight either,” Badmus added.
