Colombian pop icon Shakira and Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Burna Boy will electrify the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in Mexico City by performing the tournament’s official anthem, ‘Dai Dai’.

The performance is slated for June 11 at the legendary Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, just prior to the opening encounter between the host nation Mexico and South Africa.

FIFA hailed the anthem, stating, “’Dai Dai’ is a celebration of football’s power to unite people across cultures and continents.”

The anthem bears an Italian title meaning “let’s go” or “come on,” and is expected to rank among the highlights of the opening ceremony.

Colombian reggaeton star J Balvin and South African singer-songwriter Tyla are also set to perform as the spectacle launches the month-long tournament.

FIFA added:“We wanted a song that captures the energy, passion and global spirit of the FIFA World Cup.”

Estadio Azteca is one of football’s most iconic venues.

Opened in 1966 with a capacity of around 83,000–87,500, it previously hosted the opening matches (and finals) of the 1970 and 1986 World Cups.
It will become the first stadium in history to host three World Cup opening matches.
