Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa, has vowed that those behind the violent attack on two NDLEA officers during an anti-drug operation in Dawaki, Abuja, would be arrested and brought to justice.
Marwa gave the assurance during a visit to the injured officers at the National Hospital, Abuja, on Monday.
The development was disclosed in a statement emailed to Persecondnews on Tuesday by the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi.
“An attack on our officers is an attack on the state, and it will not go unpunished. We will leave no stone unturned to make sure the culprits are brought to book.”he assured.
The officers, Ayegh Dooyun Zachariah and Shehu Jamil Ibrahim, sustained severe injuries following a mob attack during a raid on a notorious drug joint in the Dawaki area of the Federal Capital Territory on May 15, 2026.
Marwa also extended the support of the agency’s management to the injured officers and assured them that the NDLEA would take full responsibility for their welfare, including comprehensive medical care until they fully recover.
He commended the duo for their bravery, dedication and professionalism during the high-risk operation, describing their sacrifices in the fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse as invaluable to the nation.
The NDLEA chairman in commiseration, presented the officers with official Letters of Commendation personally signed by him, alongside other support packages to aid their recovery.
Marwa also lauded the agency’s medical personnel and officials at the National Hospital for their prompt intervention and proper care, which he said had helped stabilise the injured officers.
He reassured Nigerians that the NDLEA would remain resolute in dismantling drug cartels and sanitising communities across the country despite violent resistance from criminal elements.
