"When exactly will this hope come into fruition? The answer is simple. It is a scam. The answer is what? A scam! If allowed, this regime will continue shouting renewed hope to eternity"

The opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared a “firm stand” against the Bola Tinubu administration, vowing neither to bow nor retreat despite escalating national crises.

Speaking at the party’s National Convention in Abuja on Tuesday covered by Persecondews, leaders urged members to join a “rescue mission” for Nigerian democracy.

The rhetoric reached a peak when National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola—the former Minister of Interior and Osun State Governor—called for President Tinubu’s resignation, citing deteriorating security and economic conditions.

Aregbesola further dismissed the administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, labeling it a “scam.”

“When exactly will this hope come into fruition? The answer is simple. It is a scam. The answer is what? A scam! If allowed, this regime will continue shouting renewed hope to eternity.

“We have the duty to stop scammers from retaining power,” Aregbesola said.

Describing ADC as the “sun of Nigeria” that cannot be dimmed, he said:. “Despite all desperate attempts to emasculate our party, just as no power can stop the sun from rising, so the ADC cannot be stopped.”

Aregbesola stressed the party’s deep roots in the people rather than any individual.

“The ADC cannot be wished away. It belongs to the Nigerian people,” he told delegates.

“The ADC does not owe its existence to any individual, including the umpire robed in partisanship. We owe our existence to the Nigerian constitution. We are here because the ADC is on a rescue mission.”

Rejecting what he termed “kakistocracy,” Aregbesola reminded the audience of the government’s broken promises.

“We cannot allow kakistocracy in Nigeria. Four years ago, this government promised Nigerians renewed hope; three years into its tenure, it is still making the same promise.

“When will this hope come to fruition? We have a duty to stop these scammers from retaining power,” he said.

ADC National Chairman David Mark echoed this resolve, telling attendees that the party would not back down.

For Mark, the stakes are higher than mere politics; he believes the future of the nation’s democratic system hangs in the balance.
