Tinubu Renews Pledge to Eliminate Terrorism During Bayelsa Visit

51

Again, President Bola Tinubu seized his Friday visit to Bayelsa State to signal a renewed offensive against insecurity.

Speaking at a project commissioning ceremony, he vowed to sustain federal investment in the military.

Tinubu noted that his administration remains focused on equipping and training security personnel to dismantle terror networks and restore safety across Nigeria.

The event attracted several dignitaries, including former President Goodluck Jonathan.

“We will continue to equip and train our men and women of the armed forces. We will defeat terrorism and banditry,” the President said, underscoring what he described as a non-negotiable commitment to national security.

The President’s visit comes on the heels of a fierce encounter in Benisheikh, Borno State, where troops thwarted a major terrorist attack but suffered casualties in the process.

Paying tribute to the fallen, Tinubu hailed the soldiers as the nation’s ultimate shield.

He further asserted that the war on terror is inextricably linked to governance. By prioritizing roads, power, and employment, Tinubu aims to address the root causes of unrest.

“Ongoing reforms are yielding results,” the President maintained, noting that increased military pressure is successfully pushing insurgent groups to the breaking point.

During his visit, the President inaugurated several landmark infrastructure projects completed under Governor Douye Diri’s administration.

These included the 630-meter Angiama-Oporoma Bridge, the Sagbama/Ekeremor Road, and a new 2.9-kilometer dual carriageway in Yenagoa.

At a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Bayelsa Government House, Tinubu praised the state’s successful delivery of an independent power project, calling it a vital catalyst for energy access and economic expansion.

He emphasized that the citizens of Bayelsa deserve to experience the dividends of governance through visible development and a better quality of life.

“We are all working hard. Independent power supply is a good development. I assure Nigerians that electricity will be available to power growth and prosperity,” the President said.

Tinubu urged the state government to sustain the momentum by implementing more people-focused projects, while assuring of continued Federal Government support to accelerate development in the state.

Welcoming the President as a dedicated friend to Bayelsa, Governor Diri thanked him for commissioning the new infrastructure.

He noted that federal policy reforms have created an enabling environment for state-led energy initiatives.

Diri highlighted that the successful deployment of gas-powered turbines was a direct result of these interventions, describing the project’s completion as a significant achievement and a point of pride for his administration.
