In a decisive move that has sent ripples through the global athletics community, World Athletics has firmly blocked Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili’s efforts to switch her national allegiance to Turkey.

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) broke the news through an official statement released on Thursday and obtained by Persecondnews correspondent, confirming the governing body’s ruling against the high-profile transfer request.

AFN President Tonobok Okowa personally shared the full 10-page verdict issued by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), shedding light on the detailed reasons behind the decision.

The document, now circulating among stakeholders, outlines why the switch was denied despite Ofili’s ambitions to represent her new country on the international stage.

The AIU ultimately turned down Ofili’s formal application to transfer her international allegiance from Nigeria to Turkey, closing the door on what could have been a major shift in her competitive career.
