Meet Olatunji Olaiwola Fatai, the new Commissioner of Police for Lagos State.

1. He is a Lagos-born officer with a strong background in investigation and command’s terrain, having served in various roles within the Lagos State Police Command.

2. Fatai’s experience includes serving as Officer-in-Charge of the D4 unit at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, and as Area Commander for Area C, which covers Surulere and surrounding areas.

3. He also served as Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) for Lagos State, making him familiar with the state’s policing needs.

4. Fatai was promoted to Commissioner of Police in October 2025 and has been described as a “quiet operator” with strong investigative instincts and command presence.

5.The CP holds Bachelor of Arts in English Education from Lagos State University (1990), Postgraduate Diploma in International Relations and Strategic Studies from Lagos State University, Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Adekunle Ajasin University,
Master’s Degree in Criminology, Security and Legal Psychology from Lagos State University, MSc in Entrepreneurship from National Open University of Nigeria and Advanced Diploma in Forensic Investigation and Criminal Intelligence from University of Lagos.
