Massive Blow to Insurgency: Troops Eliminate 80 Terrorists, Commanders in Borno

413

In a fierce overnight battle, troops from the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, crushed a coordinated multi-pronged terrorist assault on their position in Mallam Fatori, Borno State, leaving over 80 insurgents dead.

According to Lt. Col. Sani Uba, Media Information Officer for the task force, the high-stakes attack began in the early hours of Wednesday.

The terrorists used sheer numbers and armed drones in a desperate attempt to overrun the 68 Battalion base.

However, having anticipated the move, security forces launched a decisive “offensive-defensive” response that shattered the enemy advance.

Backed by precision airstrikes from the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI and allied Nigerien forces, troops overwhelmed the insurgents, forcing them into a chaotic retreat.

A large cache of arms was recovered, including dozens of AK-47 rifles, machine guns, RPG launchers, improvised explosive devices, and drone components.

Significantly, three high profile commanders Mallam Abdulrahman Gobara, Mallam Ba Yuram, and Abou Ayyuba were among those killed, alongside several other fighters.

Military authorities say their elimination has dealt a major blow to the group’s command structure and operational capacity.

Despite the intensity of the attack, only four soldiers were wounded and have since been stabilised.

The military maintains that the operation reinforces its dominance in the theatre, dismissing claims of setbacks as false narratives.

Authorities have assured residents that security in Mallam Fatori and surrounding areas remains under firm control, urging the public to stay vigilant and rely only on verified information as operations continue.
