In a significant shift for the council, Joshua Ishaku of the APC has been declared the winner of the Bwari chairmanship race in Saturday’s FCT polls.
According to Returning Officer Prof. Mohammed Nurudeen, Ishaku secured the seat with a total of 18,466 votes in the February 21 polls.
The APC candidate defeated rivals from the ADC and ZLP, who finished second and third respectively.
He said: “I am the Returning Officer for the 2026 FCT Area Council Bwari chairmanship election held on February 21, 2026.
“That Joshua Ishaku, having certified the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected.”
Nurudeen also said that the candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) scored a total of 4,254 votes, while that of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) scored 3,515 to come second and third places respectively.
The election was conducted in 10 wards of the council: Igu, Shere, Dutse, Ushafa, Byazhin, Kuduru, Kubwa, Usuma, Bwari central and Kawu.
