In a dramatic sequence of events, Department of State Services (DSS) operatives arrested former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Wednesday night, moments after he secured bail from the EFCC.
DSS agents were reportedly lying in wait at the EFCC headquarters to take El-Rufai into custody as he exited around 8 p.m.
The arrest is allegedly tied to a high-stakes security breach involving the unlawful interception of phone communications belonging to National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu.
This escalation follows El-Rufai’s public accusations that Ribadu was orchestrating a “witch-hunt” against him, particularly after the former governor narrowly evaded a previous arrest attempt at the Abuja airport last Thursday, February 12.
