The ring proved a step too far for Jake Paul, whose high-stakes gamble against Anthony Joshua culminated in a devastating knockout.

Beyond the loss, the former YouTuber was left with a suspected broken jaw, marking a brutal end to his ambitious challenge.

The 28-year-old managed to survive six rounds with the former heavyweight champion before Joshua’s power proved too much in Miami.

Paul drove himself to the hospital after the fight, where his promoter Nakisa Bidarian confirmed he had gone for treatment.

The recovery period is expected to be four to six weeks.

“I think my jaw is broken,” Paul said in his in-ring interview, spitting out blood. “I’m feeling good, that was fun, I love this sport”.

Despite the setback, Paul remained optimistic, planning a return to the ring to challenge for the cruiserweight world title.

“We will heal the broken jaw, come back and fight people my weight,” he said.

Paul attributed his fatigue to handling Joshua’s size and weight.

“I just got tired. It was a lot handling his weight. If I had better cardio I think I could have kept on fighting. I did my personal best”.
