Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, has touched down in Fès, Morocco, marking the beginning of their final preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The team, led by coach Eric Chelle, departed Cairo, where they had been training since Monday, and arrived in Fès this afternoon.

Upon arrival, the Super Eagles will kick off their training schedule with a 6pm local time session, as they gear up for their AFCON 2025 campaign.

The team recently suffered a 2-1 loss to Egypt’s Pharaohs in a friendly match at the Cairo International Stadium on Tuesday.

The Super Eagles’ camp in Cairo received a boost with the arrival of star striker Victor Osimhen on Wednesday night, completing the list of 28 invited players for the continental showpiece.

Osimhen arrived at about 9:45 p.m. Nigerian time, adding pace, goals, and leadership to the squad.

“It is a big lift for the squad because everyone is now focused on the same objective as final preparations begin in earnest,” said Promise Efoghe, the team’s media officer.

The three-time African champions are grouped with Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda in Group C.

Their AFCON 2025 campaign begins on December 23, when they face Tanzania’s Taifa Stars at the Grand Stade de Fès.

They will then take on Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles on December 27 and Uganda’s Cranes on December 30, with all group matches held at the same venue.
